RailState New Features Release July 11, 2024
Release notes July 11, 2024
We would like to highlight some enhanced functionality within the RailState UI and API that we just released. They include:
1. Calendar Filter Update: We have expanded the functionality of the calendar filter, and at the same time streamlined for ease of use. Now you can select between fixed and custom time intervals, which will help in creating even more specific 'relative' time periods for your Watchlist reports.
2. API Update - Sensor Status History: We are now able to provide you with visibility into short-term sensor outages via the API. This enhanced endpoint will allow you to integrate outage data directly into your systems or applications for timely updates.
Further below you will find some explanations, ‘how to’ steps, and definitions.
If you have any feedback or suggestions, or would like an overview of any existing features, reach out to support+UI@RailState.com or click this link: Schedule an Overview
Calendar Options Update:
The expanded calendar functionality includes some new quick-hit selections such as Last 24 hours and Last 48 hours. In addition, there is a new custom entry selection, that allows you to specify a value then select between Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, or Years.
Want the last full day, plus the current portion of today? Simply select 1 Day, and toggle 'Including current' as shown below, and you will see the most recent data.
Date selection has been made easier, reducing mouse clicks. Now you can click into From and To and select your dates, or simply type in the value and eliminate the scroll.
Note: Once logged in, toggle over each feature within the calendar filter and you will see additional tooltip instructions appear at the top of the card.
API - Sensor Status History:
Until now the API route provided data about major sensor states as triggered manually by RailState. Now it also contains short-term outages that are detected automatically based on sensor activity.
Important things to note:
- If you 'do nothing' your current API queries will still work - you will receive data, but it would be limited to the last 30 days instead of the full history.
- New query parameters were introduced that allow you to change the time interval that you want to see the data for.
For further detail, please review the API documentation within the UI. To find this, upon login click the user icon in the top right corner, then the API documentation tab, then follow the link to Open API documentation. Path shown below:
Note: We are working on making the same information available via the UI, and will provide further updates as we progress.
We look forward to your feedback and suggestions.
