RailState New Features Release February 12, 2024
Release notes February 12, 2024
Today we released some new functionality within the RailState user interface (UI).
In particular you will note additional Time Ranges within Map Metrics, and expanded Charts features.
In Charts, one can now review Travel Times, and add Averages to select visuals as well.
Further below you will find some explanations and ‘how to’ steps.
We are continuously adding new features. If you have additional suggestions or feedback, or would like an overview of any existing features, please reach out or email support+UI@railstate.com.
Map - Metrics - Time Range:
In additional to existing metrics, users can now select Last 7 / 30 / 60 / 90 days, and compare a greater variety of time periods to other averages, such as the last 7 Days vs. the Last 60 Days.
To find the new options see the Time Range selector within the Metric Card on Maps, as depicted below:
Charts - Travel Times:
Within Charts there is a new Travel Times tab, which when selected will show the average time (in hours) between sensors for detected volumes that match the defined Train Route parameter as set by the user.
The image below depicts the location of the Travel Times tab within Charts, as well as the Aggregation available. (Further below you will find instruction detailing how to define a Train Route.)
How-To Define a Train Route:
Within the Filters bar on Search and Charts you can specify direction of travel through a site, as well as a site sequence, or combination of both.
To get started, add your first site via the filter bar, then select the Set Train Route Details option as indicated below:
Continue building the route (or route segment) by defining an end point by selecting Add Site as indicated below, and selecting your next sensor:
Combine both the sequence and direction (optional) to define a route (or route segment). Results returned will show records that meet each and every criterium defined, in the order they are listed.
Tip: It is best to go broad in these definitions, and use filters and other parameters to drill in further.
Charts - Averages:
To provide some additional context to Chart data Averages can now be added to select charts. On the right-hand side of the screen you will find the new Averages selector with options of Off (default) and 7, 30, or 90 days. Upon making a selection the appropriate average will be plotted for the dataset under review (as determined by your filter parameters).
We will continue to add additional measures and detail/descriptions. In the meantime please reach out with any additional suggestions.
